Is the amount of time between their initial album and this one. The brevity shows in that the songs aren’t that different, still very 60’s psychedelic, garage rock. I do feel that the songs on this album are a bit more mature in both writing quality and lyrical style. There is less Hendrix taking over and just playing guitar, it still happens at parts but overall I feel the album has more cohesion compared to Are You Experienced which was both more experimental feeling to me and had more songs that you could summarize as exhibitions on guitar with accompaniment. I do believe that the band likely had a more capable studio for this album over the previous.
Tomorrow I will finish Hendrix’s releases from before he passed, it will also mark album 150 for the year for me.
