I don’t follow the artist
I like Sturgill Simpson well enough. I found Metamodern Sounds to be a good album. I really liked both volumes of Cuttin’ Grass. So when I heard that Simpson is releasing a new album I figured I would listen.
This one I didn’t like as much honestly. A few songs are alright I guess, I thought If The Sun Never Rises Again was good and Scooter Blues seems interesting lyrically but overall the album feels to me to be a derivative pop country album. That being said it’s just not my thing, it’s still decent pop country and I hope gets lots of airplay and/or streams.
