Last night I attended a charity concert
It was called a Tribute to Benefits. It is organized by a local musician and highlighted a bunch of local musicians. Some I have seen before, others I had not. Joe May’s Month of Mondays performed and I really enjoyed them so I figured I would check out Joe May’s album today.
The show last night was all Allman Brothers tunes and everything was absolutely amazing. Joe had a bolt on the back of his synth and the band was introduced as just completing a tour of the state performing Dead songs. With this knowledge I came into the album with what I thought were reasonable expectations of a jammy delight.
I would say my expectations were met and between seeing them last night and having listened to the album I can say that I am a fan. I really like The Bull Goose Loony which has this fantastic washy opening. It’s also one of the singles on the album.
