Was taking a walk on lunch and picked an album at random.
I’ve heard Poppies and Sex & Candy before on this one, everything else was new to me. I am not going to do a “track by track” on this one. I enjoyed the album as a whole. Songs that stuck out were Ancient Walls Of Flowers, A Cloak Of Elvenkind, and One More Suicide. It amazes me how often we produce art in a period to highlight an issue that is relevant at the time and it stays relevant almost 3 decades later because we as a society fail to make meaningful change.
The album is overtly 90’s alternative. I wouldn’t consider it grunge but it does have some elements I would consider grunge, so like grunge adjacent? I did think that it blended the 90’s alt rock sound with a softer folk sound. I really did enjoy the album. I suspected I would, having listened to Sex & Candy probably too many times before now.
