I needed a soundtrack

As I was leaving my house this morning to go to the doctor, I came across this over the weekend. Originally it was going to be strictly a leisure listen but today was busy and stressful so I figured I would take the easy way out and just use this as my album for today.

Yeah I picked this because of Jerry Garcia

But then I found out that some of the other guys in this band either helped with many of the Dead’s songs and other projects, specifically New Riders of the Purple Sage. I think I will listen to one of their albums later this week. I think all the songs on this album would be considered bluegrass standards. Most of the songs I recognize I think I’ve heard better versions but that could also be a difference in recording quality. Overall I doubt this album will get more play from me. I tend to put on either a random jam band when I need sound around and this is just a bit too far outside of my normal jam to pick this often. However, I do think this is neat as it’s the earliest recording of Garcia that I think I’ve listened to, and if the internet is to be believed it’s the earliest studio recording of Garcia.
