The band that launched Tom Petty’s career
I honestly don’t know how accurate that statement is. But I enjoy a lot of Tom Petty’s music and his nasal drawl style of singing. I was pleasantly surprised when the first song I recognized. Not this recording but the title track recording on Shady Grove by Garcia and Grisman. I really enjoyed Crystal River.
I will not consider this album the epitome of songwriting. In the song “The Wrong Thing to Do” we get to hear “And I broke my finger on a trailer hitch. Mamma called daddy that son of a bitch”
Overall I enjoyed this. I expected to enjoy it regardless. I will likely listen to their other album.
