I think I’ve ran out of Rush songs I am familiar with
I think I’ve heard Distant Early Warning Before and perhaps Afterimage but I don’t recognize them as songs I know. The rest of the album is new to me I think. The album while sounding like Rush sounds very 80’s too. Heavy use of synths, which Signals also had but I feel like they are even more featured here. Being a bit of a synth nerd I just spent a lot of time forum diving to read about the synths used on this album. It’s quite literally legendary synths for the 80s (OB-X, OB-XA, DSX, Jupiter 8, TR-808.) The 808 is what surprised me the most. Why would they need a dedicated drum machine? From further reading it looks like it was used for sync, this was pre-MIDI adoption.
