Songs I have heard before this listening:

Hallelujah - I enjoy attempting to play this.

Lover, You Should’ve Come Over - I heard a cover of this at some point. I didn’t realize it was a cover at the time, it was a female singer.

Songs I think could have been singles:

Grace - I usually think title track are going to be releases, and this is no exception. The track is very well produced and shows off the versatility Buckley had.

Last Goodbye - Breakup song that is kinda poppy

Other artists this reminds me of:

David Bowie - Buckley’s flexibility showed on this album. Maybe not as creative however it would be interesting to see what else he would have made given a chance.

Notes on the music:

Most of the album has an acoustic rock/folky feel that is comfortable. Some songs have a gospel feel to them.

I think my favorite song on the album is Eternal life, it’s a big departure from the rest of the album.

Buckley had a huge vocal range. There are “Oohs” on some parts of the album that are falsetto that I looked up and confirmed were not a backing vocalist.

Notes on the album as a whole:

This was not a concept album but rather a display of an artist’s ability. The album is very broad in styles and while overall isn’t what I would normally listen to I think it will get some more play. I am also curious to explore the demos and unfinished catalog of Buckley’s. It’s a shame he passed before finishing his 2nd album, his evolution would have likely been interesting.
