I was introduced to Kings Of Leon

By a girl I dated in high school. Aha Shake Heartbreak was one of my favorite CD’s the year I graduated. I then didn’t follow their next couple releases but enjoyed Come Around Sundown. I’ve listened to some of their other stuff and think I did listen to When You See Yourself when it was released in 2021, I don’t recall being overly impressed with that album.

Songs

I was going to do a song by song documentation on this but I am just over halfway through with the album currently and other than Mustang sounding like it was written to be a single and this album feeling more pop influenced than what I have previously enjoyed by the band in the past. I wouldn’t say that this is bad, the songs are inoffensive and do actually fit the band’s sound quite well. However it’s not the gritty indie, alt rock with a punky country twang that I personally want to hear when I listen to Kings Of Leon.

I type that and and Nothing To Do comes on. While it’s not quite what I wanted it’s pleasantly fuzzy and catchy.

Well

That was fine. Not what I wanted but closer to what I expected. I may try to listen while driving or as background music while working but I doubt this will be an album I come back to often.
