First a complaint

I listen to albums on YouTube Music. Normally they are pretty straight forward. But for some reason older libraries are just screwed up. This album is showing as released in 1990 and has several extra tracks, both the previous 2 albums I listened to by Jefferson Airplane also had extra tracks but were at least showing the correct release year. You ought to see the mess that is the Pink Floyd discography section or the Grateful Dead. 

Now to the album

This is a lot more experimental feeling than Surrealistic Pillow, which did feel like a big departure from Takes Off. This feels like the 2nd half of Surrealistic Pillow but heavier. Overall I think I prefer the more upbeat less explorative Surrealistic Pillow but this isn’t bad at all. Also looking at the production, they released 2 albums in 1967, this being the second one that’s a lot of work and their production quality has improved greatly since Takes Off. Many of the recordings sound cleaner and crisper but also sound more intentional.
