This was disappointing
I don’t remember where I received this recommendation from. But everything I read about Pond made me think I would love this album but I just don’t. Pond is an Australian psyche rock band. This ticks a bunch of boxes for me, I like Tame Impala, Ocean Alley, the Porn Crumpets, and King Gizzard. This seemed like experimental psych rock where they aren’t sure how many synths are too many synths. There were moments where I could say I really did enjoy but those were few and far between compared to the moments where I couldn’t tell what was supposed to be the lead because there were 13 different parts going one, 8 were synths, and they were all mixed to the same level. I probably won’t listen to this again but would be open to trying out one of their earlier albums to see if I could find something that perhaps I connect with a bit more, perhaps if I find that I might revisit this one at some point. Ultimately this pond was too muddy and shallow for me to enjoy.
